time looking at examples of posts like shown below. Few

a heading and forum that calls it’self Film Professionals.

I call those efforts Credit card Features. For What it is worth. Such a flick can only
be attempted and go anywhere if done by super pro. Who not only performs all functions
and is an expert on all those functions. And please don’t mention Blair Witch as it was
fluke.( At best ) Private placement for a budget like that is a waste of time . There are
easier ways And better formulas to accomplish such.

Further more: No one ever talks about investment to clean sound, ADR, etc., distribution made to make film presentable.

You might want to explain that one Thomas. What does ADR have to do with
raising money for a low budget flick . You might want to explain to the wanna bee’s
what ADR is ? And what role it played in the days of Film. If low budget experimental
needs ADR they’re in deep shit.

Distribution costs alone are around 20K at the least. E&O insurance is easily about 10k. Not to mention publicity. These films are one in a million and were picked up and paid for by the companies that purchased them. But the other 6 thousand or so films that are made this year shouldn’t even look at these. They would have a better chance winning the lottery.

Thanks Jason… But how do you get it through to them ? Even what we used to call
” Playable pictures” in the drive in era are a non commodity. These kids don’t know
what E&O is. Because the never learn the ” Business of Film ”
Getting tired of writing and trying to help. They don’t listen anyway,……

For clarity: Everyone talks about the micro-budget picked up for distribution, but few remember the costs to make the film technically presentable to the audience. Everyone talks about the $7,500 to make El Mariachi. No one talks about the $250,000 the distributor spent in post-production to make it releasable.

Thomas, I think the original topic was raising money for an el cheap’o movie
I try to assist and help young film makers as much as possible. But the free education
has to stop somewhere. But most of all don’t talk about Distributors. That’s a system of it’s
own. It all still comes down to the ability of making a ‘ playable picture ” Most of the
new comers don’t know what that means and don’t have a clue.

Ha ha, some people need to check CVs/imdb before they offer their services to random names. Is you book from 2000 still relevant in the days of kickstarter, crowdequity, evaopration or pre-sales, etc. for low budget filmmaking?

Well Sean. You are the one that’s way behind the times If not totally ignorant, . if you think
Kickstarter & Crowd equity BEGGING is the answer and IMDB is the information source.Dah… You need some
education. And please; Don’t use the words ” Entreprenuer: and ” Artist” in vain.
But you have given me a chuckle, and proven me correct with your post. Thank you.
